CIOMS supports civil society organization in Uganda with workshop on patient involvement

CIOMS supported the not-for-profit civil society organization, Community Health and Information Network (CHAIN), Uganda, with holding a workshop on “Opportunities and Challenges of Patient Involvement in Drug Development and Safe Use of Medicines in Resource Limited Settings”. CHAIN is a member of the International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO) and the workshop was co-hosted with the National Drug Authority, with coverage on the local radio. The event took place on the on 29th August 2019 and brought together bioethics committee members, patient organisations, and researchers. The workshop was held to inform the CIOMS guidance on Patient Involvement in Development and Safe Use of Medicines. It may also be useful for the CIOMS guidance under development on Clinical Research in Resource-Limited Settings.
