Annette Rid is a Senior Lecturer in Bioethics and Deputy Director of the MA in Bioethics & Society at the Department of Social Science, Health & Medicine, King’s College London. She also is an Affiliated Research Fellow at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics, University of Zurich.
Annette has a background in medicine, philosophy, and history. She obtained her doctorate in medicine at the University of Freiburg and her habilitation in biomedical ethics from the University of Zurich, after having trained in bioethics during a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Bioethics, U.S. National Institutes of Health.
Annette works primarily in research ethics and clinical ethics, with a particular focus on risk-benefit evaluations in biomedical research and treatment decision-making for incapacitated patients. Her work has been funded, among others, by the European Commission, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
